Testimonials

“We are LGBTQ allies and we are parents of a remarkable kid who is part of the LGBTQ community. While we will support our kids unconditionally, it doesn't mean we inherently know what to do. Enter Rebecca Minor. For our family, we needed to learn how to create a home and environment that best supported our child. Rebecca created a space for us to be vulnerable and offered support as we shared all our hopes and fears. She shared facts when we were ready and simply listened when we felt deflated. Our family is thriving right now, in great part to our very fortunate connection to Rebecca Minor.”

”Rebecca has been invaluable to our family! Not only has she become our 16-year-old daughter's trusted advocate and confidante, but she has also become someone that my husband and I whole-heartedly respect and trust.  Our daughter's transition has been emotional and trying at times, and Rebecca has been able to seamlessly strike a balance between supporting our daughter and offering us the support and hope that we need. There have been times that we as parents have been just outright scared and frustrated.

Rebecca has been able to both validate our concerns and lead us in the direction that best supports our daughter's (and our whole family's) well-being. She is genuinely interested and concerned about how we as parents are feeling. She communicates to us in a language we can understand and we do not feel the need to 'sugar coat' our concerns.  She's been in touch with our daughter's school when we've asked her to be. She's been flexible with her schedule when we've asked her to be. She's replied to emotionally-charged emails with kindness and patience. She's given us hope. She has helped our family find its way. Rebecca is pure gold.”

“Rebecca has been an incredible resource and guide for me as a trans parent. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with her since our son first came out in late 2018. Rebecca has a unique perspective as she works closely with trans kids, yet she also empathizes with and understands parents’ anxiety as they face a different and often confusing new reality. She is warm and compassionate, but Rebecca also can be direct with you when needed. While the last couple of years have been challenging, it’s been a comfort to know I have Rebecca there to support me on this journey.”

”As parents, we didn't know what the journey of our son's transition would bring. Having Rebecca there, with her skill set, dedication, and heart, to guide, nudge, advocate, give you the straight talk, and facilitate communication between parent and child has made it a process of hand-in-hand growth and development vs. one of unnecessary pain, struggle and confusion. I highly recommend her for any parent(s) seeking to support their trans child on their road to self-discovery.”

“You always hear that it takes time and effort to find that someone who truly connects with your child and can make a real difference.  For years, on and off, we searched for that person to work with our teenage son.  At times it was difficult, because with each new therapist, our son had to start his story from scratch and we all know how exhausting that can be.  Rebecca, I am fortunate to say, turned out to be  "that person" for us.  Actually, I was immediately drawn to her on that initial phone call when I was simply inquiring about her services.  Then, after a few sessions with my son and as part of the initial process, she asked to meet with me as well (with my son's permission), as it's so crucial to hear different perspectives.  As I walked out of her office that day, I knew with confidence that my son was in the hands of an expert who understood, respected and appreciated my child fully.  I had never felt that before.  And the best part was that those emotions were mutual for my son.  He enjoyed and was better for the time he spent talking to Rebecca.  Throughout the few years since they met, Rebecca has always been available whenever needed.  That rains true for me as well.  Although Rebecca is precluded from being my therapist, she has been in fact, my most precious resource at times.  As the parent of an LGBTQ son, I have turned to Rebecca for her wisdom many times.  With my son's permission, she has always made herself available to listen, to educate and to offer her advice.  I am beyond grateful for all Rebecca has done for our family; we are so blessed to have found her. “

—Parent of 19 y/o Cis Gay Man

”Despite being in the middle of the toughest time in his life, Rebecca earned our son's trust immediately. With the benefit of her experience, authenticity, and genuine kindness, she was uniquely positioned to help him work through his fears, rebuild his confidence, and face challenges that we, as parents, were ill-prepared to guide him through alone. Perhaps most importantly, she connected him to a community of other kids with similar experiences; one that's been an amazing source of support, comfort, and joy. We are so thankful to have found her!”

“For years, my child struggled with body dysphoria and anxiety. We struggled to find a therapist who really understood the needs of transgender adolescents and their families. About two years ago, we were referred to Rebecca Minor, and she has been an amazing therapist and partner.  She takes a very thoughtful approach and really engages with her patients. She has helped my child navigate self-learning and self-love, and has had a profound impact on their mental health.

As a cis gender parent, I don't always have the knowledge of LGBTQ issues that my child needs. Rebecca has been a great partner in this way. She has a great understanding of LGBTQ issues, and transgender issues, in particular. In addition to providing therapy, she hosts a group meeting where transgender adolescents can help each other. Rebecca has also brought in expert guest speakers. This has helped my child feel like they have a real community.

I highly recommend Rebecca Minor to parents and children who are looking for a knowledgeable and thoughtful partner. She is more than just a therapist- she is a wonderful role model to trans youth as they navigate a difficult time.
