Parent/Caregiver Coaching

Coaching could be for you if…

  • You are the loving, supportive parent or caregiver of a person who is questioning their gender or has come out as transgender

  • You are at the beginning of this process and you’re not quite sure what to expect

  • You want to learn more about how to actively support someone who is transitioning

  • You might want a plan for how to talk with other family members, teachers, school administrators, etc. about your child’s identity and how to best support them

  • You have questions and concerns regarding medical care and what to expect

  • You want to create an expansive home environment that supports identity exploration

  • You are curious about parenting or teaching differently than you experienced growing up

  • You are aware of the oppressive nature of the gender binary but aren't sure what to do next

  • You are thinking about raising a child without an assigned gender

“Rebecca created a space for us to be vulnerable and offered support as we shared all our hopes and fears. Our family is thriving right now, in great part to our very fortunate connection to Rebecca Minor.”

FAQs

How is coaching different than therapy?

Coaching is more active and future oriented while therapy often focuses more on healing a client’s past. There is no medical framework to coaching, and our work will instead focus on bridging the gap between where you are now, and your envisioned future. Coaching is often more skills based and focused on your desired outcome.

How many sessions do I need?

I have found that while a single session can be useful, most clients benefit from 4 or more sessions. This allows us time to understand your needs, set goals, assess progress, and wrap up with a clear understanding of what to do next.

Can I book multiple sessions?

I do offer parent coaching in single sessions without any commitment, or you can pre book a package of 4 sessions which comes with some added bonuses! Working together for a longer period allows us to follow a framework that will help support you and your family where you are at the moment, and help get you to where you want to be.

Am I expected to do anything outside of session?

Yes! Coaching is active and you will get the most out of it if you are engaged with the process. We will identify action items for you to complete between our sessions so you get the most benefit!

What parents have to say about

working with Rebecca

  • “As a cisgender parent, I don't always have the knowledge of LGBTQ issues that my child needs. Rebecca always knows just what to do, and has been a lifesaver in my child’s gender journey.”

  • “There have been times that we as parents have been just outright scared and frustrated. Rebecca has been able to both validate our concerns and lead us in the direction that best supports our whole family's well-being.”

  • “We never know what this journey will bring, and having Rebecca there, with her skill set, dedication, and heart, to guide, nudge, advocate, give you the straight talk, and facilitate communication between parent and child has made it a process of hand-in-hand growth and development vs. one of unnecessary pain, struggle and confusion.”

  • “She's given us hope. She has helped our family find its way. Rebecca is pure gold.”
